About us

blandine chambost octagoneBlandine Chambost developed a passion for contemporary craft during her art history PhD at Cambridge. Over the years, she honed her taste and expertise by visiting artists’ studios, private collections, museums and galleries. Her first position in the art world was in the Old Master drawings and prints field; she then moved on to 20th-century ceramics and furniture. While these experiences trained her eye for excellence, she started getting to know artists and makers. In 2011 Blandine co-founded with Laurence Piccinin Le Cercle des Nouveaux Artisans to promote young talent at the junction between craft and design. The resulting show Mémoire vive was sponsored by Fondation Bettencourt Schueller (Prix pour l’Intelligence de la Main) and enthusiastically hosted by Laurie and Emmanuel.

emmanuel laurie marty de cambiaire octagoneEmmanuel and Laurie Marty de Cambiaire have a solid joint experience of the art world. Having worked for Christie’s New York, London and Paris and various galleries specialized in Old Master drawings and paintings, they set up their own business in 2010 (www.martydecambiaire.com). They have unearthed important paintings and works on paper, and their scholarship has won them respect from art lovers, private collectors and institutions worldwide. In the art of today, they look for the audacity and craftsmanship found in Old Masters and pay a particular attention to draughtsmanship as a fundamental means of expression at the heart of every art form.

Blandine, Emmanuel and Laurie have known each other as friends and professionals for several years. Their mutual trust and shared passion for art prompted them to set up Octagone, with the desire to bring to collectors a new generation of masters.
